    • added similar "file details" field, which has info about the specific file as included on the wiki, rather than details on the artwork itself
  • added "attach above" field for artworks, which visually links related artworks together (provided they're for the same track or album), and shuttles away identical data e.g. because the artworks have the same artists or tags, and adds auto-inheritence so those identical lists don't have to be typed out twice, either; all in all used for earlier versions of album covers and track art, full-size cuts, and perhaps other useful places
  • revised the presentation of credits on artist info pages:
    • annotations, meaning an artist's specific contribution, are now shown always at the end of the line, following a "—"
    • the "with other artists" stretch of text has been completely removed, since it typically just confused credited roles, and the most detailed information is always available on the track page
    • each credit now contextually shows the complete artist information for the track, if that's markedly relevant information; for example Jane Dargason shows as "by Clark Powell and rj lake" on either artist's page, Solar Voyage shows as "by Marcy Nabors" on Erik Scheele's page
    • the "chunk" for each album now shows the album's artists; this is one-to-one, so albums not labeled "by" really don't have listed album artists on the wiki
    • credits which don't count toward the artist's totals are moved into a secondary list below the rest of the artist's contributions within each album; within an album where the artist did both, the artist's own tracks appear above other artists' tracks they mastered
    • however, tracks which are secondary releases, despite generally not counting themselves toward an artist's totals, are processed in terms of the main release - they aren't demoted to the secondary list just for being secondary releases
    • that means tracks with other releases show annotations now instead of just dropping them, which was probably at least halfway an accident
  • revised the presentation of releases on group gallery pages:
    • albums can now be listed by series here; "by date" is still the default on group gallery pages, "by series" still the default on group info pages
    • added a "tab" to the top of almost all release boxes on every group gallery page; the text is automatically determined, first showing the names of the release's groups from a different category as the current group, and if none, showing the album artists
    • for example, Curtain Call - Maragi Radi shows "Desynced" in Fandom and "Spad3s" in Desynced; Vivid Spectrum shows "Solatrus and Marcy Nabors" in Solatrus; PRAY shows "Itoki Hana" in Toby Fox
    • added a filter box for Fandom and Beyond which lets you choose to show just albums or just singles
    • added a control for immediately revealing all artworks with warnings (this is present on art tag galleries too)
    • let albums with tracks, yet no durations for those tracks, show the number of tracks; also adjusted this info line for singles
  • revised the presentation of commentary sections on all info pages:
    • if a commentary section has entries annotated "wiki editor", the section is now titled and linked as "artist and wiki commentary" (or as only "wiki commentary")
    • if a track info page has just about nothing else going on at all, the line with the "read artist commentary" scrolling link is now completely skipped
    • if an album has commentary on itself but none on any of its tracks, the "view commentary page" link is now skipped, and an ordinary "read artist commentary" scrolling link is shown instead
    • for all commentary sections, added the name of the track, album, or flash into its title
  • revised the presentation of commentary sections for secondary release tracks in particular: (old, new)
    • moved artist commentary for the current release up above commentary for the main release
    • removed the box calling out commentary "specific to this release"
    • placed commentary brought over from the main release into its own visual area
  • added a bunch of lines to let lyrics entries be more meaningfully detailed
    • lyrics sourced from a particular platform or other website may now link to that website in a "Via..." line
    • wiki lyrics - entries filled out and formatted specially for the wiki - may now list who's helped out in a "Contributions from..." line
    • wiki lyrics which include annotative text in [square brackets] now automatically draw attention there in a "Mind parts marked in..." line
    • totally custom details may be included on their own line, through an "origin details" field, similar as for artworks
  • completely reworked the "group contributions" table on artist pages, making it into an actual table now; sorting options are removed, opting to always show rows in the normal wiki order, and clicking on a group now filters the artist's contributions within that group (one artist: old, new; across artists: old, new)
  • changed the big artwork images on info pages to use "srcset" attribute, so they'll generally appear much sharper on high-resolution displays; they still always download thumbnails, just slightly larger ones than we coded some five years ago
  • changed track artwork files to not include the album's directory suffix at the end, for example Frost is now album-art/homestuck-vol-6/frost.png, rather than album-art/homestuck-vol-6/frost-vol6.png; the actual track directories / page URLs remain unchanged
  • stopped counting secondary releases as additional track contributions, adjusting counts for almost all artists, visible in "Artists - by Contributions" listing (old, new ) and in artist group contribution info (old, new)
  • made album banners appear on track pages too, where they're always one set height across the wiki, dimmed a little, and manually aligned, so hopefully it's fun but not too distracting
  • made "crediting sources" section collapsed by default, though it stays visible across pages once you've opened it
  • added "referencing sources" section for track pages, which works the same as crediting sources, and includes citations or conversations which contextualize a track's listed references and samples
  • added "Needs Lyrics" field, and a corresponding Tracks - which need Lyrics listing
  • added support to hide an album's duration, which makes that duration and the album's track count disappear most places, and excludes the album from the "Albums - by Tracks" and "Albums - by Duration" listings
  • added buttons to filter sidebar search results by kind (ex. tracks, albums, artists); chosen filter is preserved between consecutive searches; typing the kind you're looking for, e.g. searching "toby artist", still works too
  • added a link in the search box to return to where you started your search, regardless if you've since navigated further
  • made the search database generally not mandate typing out the entire word (so "crystal" has a lot more matches), unless you enclose those words in quotation marks... which is not quite the way 'verbatim' search is meant to work, but pretty close
  • made the search database guess reasonably at group information for artists, so you can search "james official" and get three results (versus 15 or so for just "james"), or just the first letter or two of an artist's name, like "desynced r"
  • made the search database include additional names, so searching "blind justice" comes up with results now
  • made the search database include secondary releases (generally rereleases) whose names differ from the main release, so searching "Predomination" comes up with results now
  • made the search database generally bring releases from Official Discography above releases from Fandom, Fandom above Beyond, etc, provided the search results are matched for the same reasons

  • added tooltips to the "also released on" line on track info pages, so you can see how much earlier or later the other releases came, and know if the track is named differently between releases
  • made reference lists swap out tracks for an alternate release of the same track within the album you're currently viewing, ex. you can jump between Showtime (Piano Refrain) and Showtime (Original Mix) while staying in Homestuck Vol. 1-4, now
  • expanded custom support for media elements in content text (e.g. commentary), with support for full-width images and videos, "nameless" audios which hide insubstantial filename, and inline / non-boxed videos
  • adjusted the drop shadow and border effects for the main page element, so it's lifted off the background a little more clearly
  • adapted the page opacity to album wallpaper elements, keeping text and layout legible while letting brighter, bolder, and deeper colors show in more expressive ways

  • swapped out a very naive word-count algorithm for one that tries to be multilingual, affecting totals on the commentary index and on album commentary pages
  • fixed chronological sorting in most track-related contexts to sort same-date tracks respective to their album's name and directory, rather than only its directory, which mostly means tracks from an album "The Apple" are now correctly sorted before tracks from another album, released on the same day, "Banana"
  • fixed sidebar for tracks with multiple releases sorting according to the tracks' albums' dates, instead of the tracks' own dates

  • added networked tags, a system for connecting, organizing, and exploring related art tags
    • makes a big "forest" of tags, where the roots - like "Media" and "Species classifications" - stand on their own, then branch into tags with multiple roots; this structure is coded completely in wiki data files, so it's readily able to be extended and reinterpreted
    • adds a new art tag info page, which shows a summary of the tag's relationships and how many times it and its children tags are featured, and includes a neat sidebar view tracing back to the current tag's uppermost root tags
    • also supports related tags, tag descriptions, reading links, additional names, and a handy new listing
    • expands the scope of art tagging to include recurrant objects and iconography, and allows detailed representation of tags from outside Homestuck
    • currently all artworks across Official Discography have been reviewed to feature the new tags, more from fandom to come; all existing tags are already integrated into the art tag network
    • much thanks to Celeste for helping discuss and workshop this feature, and to many many people (especially FF, Jebb, Makin) for offering tagging and structuring suggestions and advice
  • completely reworked the design and behavior of tracks with multiple releases
    • links to other releases are much terser (old, new) and appear in the sidebar too, with the current release's track list positioned according to the order of releases (2010, 2011, 2025)
    • artist info page marks the first release and later rereleases, including a tooltip that scrolls down or up to the relevant album (a first release and a rerelease)
  • added multiple artworks, a feature for including more than one artwork on any track or on an album itself
    • useful, for example, for official art and anthology fanart; for main track art and bonus or alternate track art; for front and back covers of a CD case
    • artworks are integrated into the existing art-related features, so they feature art tags, appear in artist and tag gallery pages, are part of artist chronology links, etc (proper integration into artwork references is coming Very Soon)
    • artworks appear in a column along the right (demo); the primary one is shown biggest, with the rest all a bit smaller; artwork credits appear right inside the artwork box, rather than getting separated from the art and mixed with musical credits in the content area; other key details are also displayed under the artwork, like a custom label ("Anthology fanart"), the year of release (hover for full date), and the originating "via" source
    • album wallpaper and banner credits now also appear beneath the main album cover artwork (old, new)
    • album gallery page allows switching between sets (official, anthology) and shows album art in separate section from track art; on "stub" gallery pages, where no tracks have any art, track grid is now completely hidden (old, new)
    • currently used for the art anthology projects for Homestuck Vol. 5, for Alternia and AlterniaBound, and Beyond Canon, with more to come
  • added multiple lyrics, a feature for presenting and preserving lyrics reflecting the artists' intent, right next to and distinct from the lyrics style-edited for the wiki
    • sets of lyrics are individually labelled and switched with a click; generally, artist-authored lyrics are the default ones displayed
    • currently in use mostly just across UNBEATABLE: DEMO TAPES, but suitable for loads of lyrics already across the wiki, updates still to come
  • added automatic sorting validation and correction for parts of a handful of data files, including the sections under More Homestuck Fandom and References Beyond Homestuck, so these can stay properly alphabetized
  • added support for multiple line breaks in a row between stanzas in lyrics
  • added support for starting track sections at custom track numbers, for example a pre-gap track in UNBEATABLE: OFF-BEATS, and soon perhaps some multi-disc albums
  • added auto-collapsing behavior to the sticky heading visible on most pages across the site; once you've scrolled a bit past the top, it will always display just one line of text, expanding to fit what space is available
  • added support for showing the image overlay to content text, such as commentary or the changelog (have you been clicking these links??), and adjusted the image overlay to fit nicer to its contents, so that rectangular images don't have a bunch of blank padding about the edges
    • includes some tweaks to CSS (mainly a bit more spacing between lines of the heading, when it's shown at full height) and careful integration with the additional names box, which still shows when the heading is clicked, but only if you've not yet scrolled down the page content area
  • added nicer support for <audio> elements in content text, such as commentary on Ham And Steak
  • added fancy text-based dynamics to decide when a link with an "extra" icon, like external links or links to images, should decide to "absorb" punctuation which immediately follows it
  • made the search bar appear on every page, no matter what, instead of being conditional on other stuff in the sidebar
  • adjusted chronology links to exclude dateless contributions from the main chronology; they'll still show next and previous links, but only pointing to other dateless contributions within the same album

  • new group series feature, so albums can now belong to specialized "series" within their groups (for example, "Numbered volumes" under Official Discography; "Land of Fans and Music" under Unofficial MSPA Fans; "Pokémon Unbound" under The Paradox Music Team) - these are shown on group info pages, in full; on album pages, with dedicated previous/next buttons; and on track pages, briefly
  • new artwork references feature, which lets tracks and albums reference the artworks of other tracks and albums; references are displayed on dedicated gallery pages, which are linked beneath the tag list of cover artworks
  • new "closely linked artists" feature, so group pages can take you right to the corresponding artist pages, and vice versa (used all throughout the "solo musicians" group category)
  • new "crediting sources" feature, essentially same as commentary but a dedicated section to collect and detail official credit sources, snippets of relevant commentary, and other observations; these generally inform the specific credits (in artist and contribution lists) for tracks on the wiki and are present so they can be revisited by anyone, at any time, and checked against or added to, to improve on-wiki credits and for thoroughness
    • ... we didn't find the time to finish filling out crediting sources for the official discography for this update, though ✨✨
  • added support for "featuring" credits; these get a custom look in track lists anywhere, and make solo albums nice and neat (old, new; track page)
  • added support for commentary entry access and/or capture dates (read from web.archive.org URLs where given, or specified manually), as well as uncertain or bounded date ranges; see e.g. Snow Halation, HIVESWAP: ACT 2 Original Soundtrack, and basically any crediting sources

  • various appearance improvements for search input: new magnifying glass, input text aligned with results' labels; browser-builtin "x" button, to clear search, now visibly grey rather than black; light highlight when hovered or focused; and a bit taller, overall
  • various appearance improvements for commentary headings: bar beneath heading is now solid and dim, rather than dotted and bright; word-wrapped lines after the first are slightly indented; and date information snaps to bottom, aligning with heading bar

  • translation/localization support:
    • nearly all static text on the wiki has been replaced with strings specified in a plain JSON file
    • default language for a wiki is generated at the root directory (/) as usual; new languages are in subdirectory (e.g. "/jp/album/diverging-delicacies")
    • no languages are newly supported yet, but the localization system is totally tested; see the news entry for details on contributing translations!
  • thumbnail support:
    • small images (250x250) are used in grids (on homepage, album/artist galleries, etc)
    • medium images (400x400) are used on pages with larger cover art (individual track/album pages, etc)
    • full-size images (usually 600x600-1200x1200, pulled from public bandcamp listings) are no longer embedded at all, but can still be viewed by clicking on cover arts to zoom in

      • this has the side-effect of making a fair amount of the build logic simpler!
