Lyrics:
This is what happens again
Everything happens for a reason
And when you trace back the origins
You'll find that everything's connected
Make a little piece of yourself
Throw it out into the sea
The God of Music, she's a fickle one
You don't know if you'll even matter
It's been a long long time
Since I began this journey
And have I even made a difference in the end?
Useless in the end
And even your friends
Do they really care
And it's only fair
Write a song you won't forget
It's something I'll never regret
I will always keep these memories with me
And it keeps happening
Damn, I warned you about them
If this is how I'll be remembered
Guess I'll die without a worry
Can I leave a legacy?
Before I am forgotten
First it's your name, then it's your soul
A glorious way to survive
It's been a long long time
And yet no time at all
And can you truly say that you did matter in the end?
Useless in the end
And even your friends
Do they really care
And it's only fair
Write a song you won't forget
It's something I'll never regret
I will always keep these memories with me

"Kaleido" ✑ booklet commentary
"Dawn of Man" is such a visceral, personal track, and I love that THAT is what MTAHK starts out with. A deeply existential song about mortality and life's purpose in the face of death. It has nothing to do with Homestuck, yet has everything to do with it.
I guess this is my attempt to live up to that opening banger. "Memories" is about my thoughts on my legacy as an artist. As a musician who has made so many songs, so many albums and so many stories, I often wonder what will eventually survive and be remembered in history. And is being remembered what really matters anyway, or is it the present that matters? I wanted to talk about how I feel about those feelings. I didn't wanna rehash the same themes as "Dawn of Man," but wanted to make a song that is equally personal to me as a musician.
